David L. Lanthier

David Lanthier is a sole practitioner in Cochrane, Ontario, carrying on a general practice, with emphasis in the preferred areas of personal injury litigation, civil litigation and family law. David is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.

David was born in Cochrane and after graduating from high school, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts and then his law degree at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario from 1978 to 1984. He returned to his home town to join a long-established practice with Norman M. Karam. David has been practicing as a sole practitioner since 1991 when Justice Karam was appointed to the bench of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

David's practice is primarily devoted to personal injury claims, civil litigation and family law and he has over 22 years of extensive experience in trial and appellate courts and numerous administrative tribunals. He has been involved in numerous personal injury claims, motor vehicle accident claims, and a variety of contract, civil claims and other proceedings such as CPP appeals, WSIB appeals, and OMB hearings. In addition, David is a busy advocate for clients in the area of family law and matrimonial litigation.

In addition to his litigation and family practice, David provides services in many types of law in a general practice including wills and estate planning, estate administration, real estate, and small business corporate commercial transactions. David also has over 22 years of experience in the area of municipal law, acting as Municipal Solicitor for local municipalities.

David has been an active community member and volunteer through the years for such organizations as the Board of Trade, the Cochrane District Community Care Access Executive, the Cochrane Association for the Performing Arts and various School Councils. His interests include mountain biking, cross-country skiing and gardening. David is married and has two daughters.
